UF uses hydrostatic pressure to force water through a semi-permeable membrane. This technology uses an ultrafiltration membrane barrier to exclude particles 0.02 to 0.05 microns, including bacteria, viruses, and colloids, meeting increasingly stringent water-quality standards around the world, and providing a stable, reliable, and consistent water quality.
The membranes work with low pressure, which results in lower operating costs. In addition, they are very effective as a pretreatment for reverse osmosis, and also have a backwashing system, which gives them a longer life span.
